ionysis is looking for a Development Chemist Electrolysis (f/m/d)
ionysis develops next-generation membrane electrode assemblies for electrochemical converters. As a recently founded and well-funded start-up based in beautiful and vibrant Freiburg, we are looking for a development chemist (f/m/d) in the field of electrolysis.
You will work hands-on within the tech team in the lab, developing new materials and processes for water electrolysis to produce green hydrogen. If your passion lies in lab work and you're fueled by a dedication to combat climate change, then this position is perfectly tailored for you.
What we do
To stop climate change and reach Net Zero, ionysis seeks to decarbonize mobility and industry with innovative electrochemical devices. We focus on the core of any electrochemical converter: the membrane electrode assembly (MEA). We develop and manufacture MEAs based on the most performant fluorine-free materials for fuel cells and electrolyzers. As a spin-off from Hahn-Schickard and University of Freiburg, we combine scientific excellence with entrepreneurial spirit to bring our innovations to market and scale.
Screening materials – catalysts, conductive polymers, membranes, etc.
Developing inks, coating processes, pre- and post-treatments
Fabricating membrane electrode assemblies for water electrolyzers
Interpreting electrolyzer performance data
Report and present your results in regular technical meetings
Enthusiasm for fighting climate change and contributing to Net Zero
Strong team player and getting-things-done mentality
A scientific education with profound lab experience (B.Sc./M.Sc. in chemistry, material science, chemical engineering or similar)
Professional experience in a related field is a plus
Ability, patience and endurance to perform similar experiments repetitively with the same high quality
Fluency in German and English
Opportunity to join an early-stage well-financed start-up and shape the culture and processes
Opportunity to grow with the company in various roles depending on personal preferences and abilities
A young and diverse team with flat hierarchies, valuing collaboration with each other no matter what your role at ionysis is
